London passengers face widespread transport disruption on October 24 and 25, with eight TfL services affected by planned closures, including major Underground routes and a 13-day tram shutdown. Football supporters traveling to Chelsea’s match against Tottenham will also face significant changes to their journeys.

Three Underground Lines Face Weekend Closures

The Circle, District and Piccadilly lines will all experience disruptions as Transport for London carries out scheduled maintenance, according to MyLondon.

The District line faces some of the most extensive restrictions. Services will not operate between Embankment and Edgware Road, or between Embankment and the western branches serving Ealing Broadway, Kensington (Olympia), Richmond and Wimbledon, throughout Saturday and Sunday.

Passengers should use alternative Underground routes, the Elizabeth line, London Overground’s Mildmay line, or replacement buses where available.

The Circle line will also close between Edgware Road and Tower Hill via Victoria on both days. Other Tube services and local buses will provide alternative connections.

On the Piccadilly line, trains will not stop at Turnham Green throughout the weekend because of track work. TfL advises passengers to travel through Hammersmith or use local buses.

A separate restriction affects Earl’s Court during the Friday Night Tube service, with Piccadilly line trains not stopping between 3:15 a.m. and 5:45 a.m.

Chelsea and Tottenham Supporters Face Stadium Travel Problems

Saturday evening’s Premier League fixture between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge coincides with the District line shutdown.

The closure affects Fulham Broadway, the Underground station closest to Chelsea’s stadium and a common arrival point for matchday crowds.

Supporters traveling by Tube should instead take the Piccadilly line to Earl’s Court and walk to the stadium.

Another option is the Mildmay line, with passengers able to reach the area through West Brompton or Imperial Wharf.

That alternative also has restrictions. Mildmay line trains will not operate between Willesden Junction and Shepherd’s Bush from 7:30 p.m. Saturday until noon Sunday, potentially affecting journeys after the match.

Overground, Elizabeth Line and DLR Services Also Affected

The disruption extends beyond the Underground network, with several rail connections unavailable during parts of Sunday.

On the Windrush line, trains will not run between Sydenham and Crystal Palace on October 25. Passengers can use Southern Railway services or local buses.

The Elizabeth line will not stop at Burnham or Taplow after 11 a.m. Sunday, with local and replacement buses recommended.

Meanwhile, the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) will suspend services between Tower Gateway and Shadwell on Sunday. Travelers can use alternative Underground or Windrush line connections.

These closures affect different sections of the network at different times, making individual journey planning particularly relevant.

Croydon Tram Shutdown Will Last Nearly Two Weeks

The longest disruption begins on Saturday, October 24, when tram services stop operating between East Croydon and Beckenham Junction, Elmers End and New Addington.

Unlike the weekend-only Underground restrictions, this shutdown will continue through Thursday, November 5, with services scheduled to resume on Friday, November 6.

TfL attributes the closure to engineering work and advises passengers to use local or replacement buses.

The tram restrictions will therefore remain in place for 13 consecutive days, extending well beyond the October 24–25 weekend closures affecting London’s wider transport network.
