Asda has recalled five lines of men\u2019s hiking boots<\/strong> and shoes after testing found per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, including PFOA, above permitted regulatory levels. Customers have been told to stop using the affected footwear immediately and return it to their nearest Asda store for a full refund, with no receipt required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The recall covers khaki and grey hiking boots and shoes sold under five separate article numbers. According to the Office for Product Safety and Standards, the products present a \u201cserious chemical risk\u201d because prolonged exposure to the substances <\/strong>identified may pose a risk to human health and may cause damage to the reproductive system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Five Asda Footwear Lines Are Included in the Recall<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The official recall, published on 6 October 2026, covers two Khaki Hiker Boot lines, one Khaki Hiker Shoe, one Grey Hiker Boot and one Grey Hiker Shoe. The affected products were listed under article numbers 1100226294, 1100245442, 1100243431, 1100264858 and 1100226297.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The footwear was manufactured in China and falls within the clothing, textiles and fashion category. ChronicleLive<\/a> reported that the hiking shoes were priced at \u00a328, while the boots cost \u00a336.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Each product is linked to a series of specific barcodes. The Khaki Hiker Boot with article number 1100226294 includes barcodes 5059202354010, 5059202354034, 5059202354058, 5059202353853, 5059202353877 and 5059202353891.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A second Khaki Hiker Boot, article number 1100245442, is linked to six further barcodes. The Khaki Hiker Shoe, article number 1100243431, also carries six affected barcodes, while the Grey Hiker Boot, article number 1100264858, is listed with seven. The Grey Hiker Shoe, article number 1100226297, has six affected barcodes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Asda\u2019s recall notice<\/a>, the footwear had passed all required tests at the time of shipment. Subsequent testing later found that the products may contain PFAS at levels above the permitted regulatory limit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Testing Found PFAS and PFOA Above Permitted Levels<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Office for Product Safety and Standards said testing identified PFAS, including perfluorooctanoic acid, or PFOA<\/strong>, above the maximum level allowed under the relevant regulations. The authority classified the risk level as serious and said the footwear does not meet the requirements of the REACH Regulations 2008.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asda said certain PFAS, including PFOA, are subject to regulatory restrictions because prolonged exposure above specified limits may pose potential health risks and possibly cause damage to the reproductive system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The retailer also said no safety incidents had been reported. It said the recall <\/a>was being carried out to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and in connection with consumer safety requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the government notice, the case was notified by Local Authority Trading Standards and is recorded under PSD case number 2610-0025. The corrective action is a recall from end users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyone who owns one of the affected products has been instructed to stop using it immediately and return it to the nearest Asda store. Customers will receive a full refund <\/strong>and do not need to provide a receipt.
