The new tariffs arrive as Royal Mail <\/strong>continues a wider restructuring of its network, while a separate dispute over planned wholesale price increases has delayed some changes affecting large business mailers. Standard First and Second Class letter stamps have not increased under the latest retail changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parcel and Tracked Service Prices Have Increased<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Customers buying postage at a Post Office now face higher prices for both First and Second Class parcels. According to GB News, a First Class small parcel weighing up to 2kg has increased from \u00a35.45 to \u00a35.90, while the equivalent Second Class price has risen from \u00a34.25 to \u00a34.60.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The increase becomes larger for heavier parcels. A First Class <\/strong>medium parcel weighing up to 10kg now costs \u00a310.90, compared with \u00a310.05 previously, while the Second Class <\/strong>price has risen from \u00a38.75 to \u00a39.50.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For medium parcels weighing up to 20kg, the First Class price has moved from \u00a315.45 to \u00a316.90, an increase of \u00a31.45. The Second Class price for the same weight has risen from \u00a313.15 to \u00a314.20.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tracked services have also become more expensive at Post Office branches. GB News<\/a> reports that a Tracked 24 small parcel has increased from \u00a35.70 to \u00a36.05, while Tracked 48 has moved from \u00a34.45 to \u00a34.70.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Special Delivery prices have changed too. Special Delivery Guaranteed <\/strong>by 1pm for an item weighing up to 100g now costs \u00a310.35, compared with \u00a39.95. The premium Guaranteed by 9am service for an item weighing up to 2kg has increased from \u00a374.95 to \u00a382.95.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customers may still pay less by purchasing postage online. A First Class small parcel costs \u00a35.70 online, compared with \u00a35.90 at a Post Office<\/a>, while a Tracked 48 small parcel costs \u00a33.75 online rather than \u00a34.70 over the counter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wholesale Price Increases Face a Separate Timetable<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The retail increases are distinct from Royal Mail\u2019s planned changes to its Network Access and wholesale services, which are used by corporate bulk mailers, utility companies and direct-mail operators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Print Monthly<\/a>, Royal Mail had planned significant wholesale increases from 5 October, including an increase of about 36 per cent for Business Mail. Access operators challenged those plans, and Ofcom accepted the dispute in September, automatically suspending the affected increases while the regulator considers whether the charges are \u201cfair and reasonable\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Royal Mail subsequently withdrew the original wholesale price plans <\/strong>and issued a new notification containing lower increases. Those revised changes are now scheduled to take effect in early December.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company has said the financial challenge of maintaining its nationwide postal network remains significant. According to the Birmingham Mail<\/a>, Royal Mail said it faces rising costs including fuel and labour, while a spokesperson said the company had made losses of almost \u00a3800 million over the previous four years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The latest retail changes come as Royal Mail reports a long-term shift in its business. Annual letter volumes have fallen from 20 billion to five billion, while parcel deliveries have increased.
