According to research cited by The Independent, the average cost of Christmas for a UK family is expected to reach \u00a31,681, more than \u00a3100 higher than<strong> two years ago<\/strong>, while inflation rose to 3.1 per cent in August.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How the \u00a3240 Santander Switching Offer Works<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Lewis said customers could receive \u00a3240 by switching to Santander\u2019s Everyday account, provided they meet the bank\u2019s<strong> eligibility rules<\/strong>. The process requires applicants to pass a credit check and use the bank\u2019s seven-working-day switching service. That service closes the old current account and transfers the <strong>existing balance<\/strong>, standing orders and direct debits to the new bank. Payments sent to the old account are also redirected after the switch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to MoneySavingExpert, customers seeking the \u00a3240 payment must pay a total of \u00a31,500 into the Santander account within 60 days. The money does not have to remain there and can be paid in through several deposits rather than as a single amount.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Customers must also fund the linked 8 per cent regular savings account with at least \u00a3200. That money can also be withdrawn. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moneysavingexpert.com\/latesttip\/?lid=qkwqj7e5fb0j&amp;anchor=hiya&amp;source=CRM-MSETIP-3c124d613d44dfb9259#hiya\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MoneySavingExpert<\/a> said the switching payment should be made by <strong>15 December <\/strong>for someone completing the process within the timetable it outlined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lewis described current switching deals as among the more lucrative available during the year and said starting early could mean receiving the money before Christmas. Several other switching incentives were highlighted by Lewis and the MoneySavingExpert team, with different requirements and payment dates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the MoneySavingExpert newsletter, HSBC is offering \u00a3220 to qualifying customers who pay in a total of \u00a32,000 and spend at least \u00a3500 on their debit card<strong> within 60 days<\/strong>. The money can be withdrawn after being paid in, while the switching bonus was expected to be paid by 22 November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First Direct is offering \u00a3210 to customers who pay in \u00a31,000, make at least five debit-card payments and log into online banking within 45 days. Its <a href=\"https:\/\/en.econostrum.info\/uk\/winter-fuel-payment-rules-repayment\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"125553\">payment <\/a>was expected by 20 October. NatWest\u2019s Reward account was listed with a \u00a3200 switching incentive. Customers are required to pay in <strong>\u00a31,250 per month<\/strong> and log into the mobile app within 60 days, with the payment expected by 23 October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nationwide\u2019s FlexDirect account was also included, offering <strong>\u00a3175 to customers<\/strong> who pay in \u00a31,000 and make one debit-card payment within 31 days. MoneySavingExpert said that payment was expected by 3 October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lewis also advised households to prepare for Christmas spending earlier rather than relying heavily on December income.
