According to the UK Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS), the hand wash presents a microbiological risk<\/strong> because testing detected Pluralibacter gergoviae. The authority classified the risk level as \u201clow\u201d in its recall notice, published on 16 September 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The product is a one-litre eco refill of oud, cedar and amber scented hand wash, manufactured under the Baylis & Harding brand in the United Kingdom. The OPSS notice states that the affected product does not meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1223\/2009, known as the Cosmetics Regulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why the Affected Hand Wash Has Been Recalled<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to the OPSS, contamination with Pluralibacter gergoviae may lead to infection or other adverse health effects. The notice says the risk particularly concerns vulnerable users and people who have a compromised skin barrier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The response has therefore focused specifically on the two identified batches rather than the wider Baylis & Harding range. Sainsbury\u2019s says the affected products are outside the microbiological specification and has asked customers not to use them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The supermarket\u2019s recall notice <\/a>identifies the product under SKU 8194780 and lists the same batch codes, 6210A and 6211A. Customers who purchased an affected pouch can return it to their nearest Sainsbury\u2019s store for a full refund. Sainsbury\u2019s also states that no other products have been affected by the issue. Customers with further questions have been directed to contact Baylis & Harding<\/strong> through the email address provided in the retailer\u2019s recall notice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Customers With Affected Batches Should Do<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Consumers should first check the batch code printed on the base of their refill pouch. Only products carrying the codes 6210A or 6211A are identified in the official recall information<\/a> supplied by the authorities and retailers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Waitrose, customers with one of the affected refill pouches should not use the product. They are instructed to package the item and return it to a local Waitrose & Partners branch, where a refund will be provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The OPSS gives similar guidance. Its corrective-action notice tells consumers to stop using affected products immediately and return them to their place of purchase for redress. The products are being recalled from end users by Baylis & Harding, Amazon, Ocado, Sainsbury\u2019s and Waitrose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official product recall <\/a>carries the PSD notification number 2609-0060 and was notified by Local Authority Trading Standards.
