Rochdale Council has introduced a new package of cost of living support after councillors approved additional funding aimed at helping residents experiencing financial pressure. Around \u00a315 million will be invested over the next three years <\/strong>through the government\u2019s Crisis and Resilience Fund (CRF).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The funding is designed to provide immediate assistance to low-income households facing financial shocks while also supporting services that can help people manage household costs over time. According to Rochdale Council<\/strong>, the programme replaces the previous Household Support Fund and represents the first multi-year funding settlement for locally delivered crisis support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funding to Provide Emergency Help for Households Facing Hardship<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The new support package will include emergency payments for residents experiencing a financial crisis, assistance with keeping homes warm, debt and welfare <\/a>support, housing assistance, help with food and other goods, and access to free warm spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Crisis and Resilience Fund is a three-year government-funded programme focused on helping households experiencing financial difficulty. Alongside emergency support<\/strong>, it will provide funding <\/strong>for services that aim to address the causes behind financial hardship, including welfare advice, debt support and employment opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the council<\/a>, the investment will allow residents to access support that helps them maximise their income and manage household expenses. The assistance is intended for people across the borough who are most in need of help during periods of financial pressure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Councillor Neil Emmott<\/a>, leader of the council, said the authority had continued to provide support for residents in Heywood, Middleton, Pennines and Rochdale throughout his time as council leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Support Also Includes Families and Longer-Term Financial Resilience Measures<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Alongside direct financial assistance, the funding package will continue programmes designed to support families and improve access to help during difficult periods. Hundreds of young families will benefit from the continued Holiday Activities Fund (HAF<\/strong>) programme, which provides healthy meals, activities and free childcare places during school holidays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Rochdale Council, the measures form part of ongoing efforts to support low-income households across the borough and reduce the impact of rising living costs. The authority said the funding will build on support already introduced in recent years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Councillor Neil Emmott said the partnership with the government would help residents dealing with financial pressures caused by factors outside their control. He also referred to government decisions to remove the two-child benefit cap <\/strong>and expand free school meals <\/strong>as measures that could help reduce pressure on household budgets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
