Asda<\/strong> has completed the rollout of electronic shelf edge labels<\/strong> across 517 Asda Express<\/strong> stores in the UK, replacing traditional paper price tickets with digital displays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The supermarket chain installed 1.2 million digital labels<\/strong> across its convenience estate, allowing customers to view pricing, promotions, product information, ingredients and allergen details directly at the shelf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asda Moves Away From Weekly Paper Price Changes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to The Mirror<\/a><\/strong>, the introduction marks the end of a long-running process where staff manually changed more than 120,000 paper price tickets every week<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new system updates shelf information digitally, reducing the need for colleagues to replace printed labels by hand. Asda<\/strong> <\/a>said the change will allow employees to spend more time helping customers, improving product availability and maintaining store standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The labels also display clearer details on pricing, unit costs, weights and promotional offers, helping shoppers access more information while they are making purchasing decisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Digital Labels Bring New Product Information To Store Aisles<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Beyond pricing updates, the technology provides additional information for products such as bakery items, including ingredient and allergen details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBy removing manual pricing tasks, we\u2019re freeing up time for colleagues to focus on serving customers and keeping store standards high. It\u2019s another example of how we\u2019re modernising our stores to improve the shopping experience for customers.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The rollout forms part of a wider move among UK supermarkets toward digital shelf technology. Tesco<\/strong>, Morrisons<\/strong>, Waitrose<\/strong> and Co-op<\/strong> have also introduced or expanded similar systems across parts of their store networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asda Continues Store Technology Investment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The project was delivered with VusionGroup<\/strong>, which provides digital shelf solutions for retailers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The supermarket is also testing shelf-edge availability cameras<\/strong> in five larger stores before a broader rollout. The cameras monitor shelves, identify missing products, low stock levels and misplaced items, then alert colleagues so they can respond faster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
