The extra amount sits on top of the standard <strong>Pension Credit <\/strong>award and is intended for claimants whose circumstances include qualifying disability benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pension Credit itself provides additional income to pensioners on lower incomes. According to the DWP figures cited in the Daily Express, the <strong>Standard Minimum Guarantee <\/strong>increased from April 2026 to \u00a3238 a week for a single pensioner and \u00a3363.25 for a couple, following a 4.8 per cent rise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The additional amount available to people with severe disabilities rose by 3.8 per cent from 6 April, taking the weekly rate to \u00a386.05. Over a full year, that figure is equivalent to \u00a34,474.60 in extra support for an eligible claimant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Who Can Qualify for the \u00a386.05 Weekly Payment<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The severe disability addition is available to single pensioners who meet the qualifying conditions, as well as couples where one person qualifies. According to the DWP, claimants can receive up to \u00a386.05 a week extra if they already receive one of a <strong>specified group <\/strong>of disability benefits. These include Attendance Allowance, the middle or highest rate of the care component of Disability Living Allowance, and the daily living component of Personal Independence Payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Qualifying benefits <\/strong>also include Armed Forces Independence Payment, the daily living component of Adult Disability Payment, Pension Age Disability Payment, and the middle or highest rate of the care component of Scottish Adult Disability Living Allowance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/members.parliament.uk\/member\/4147\/contact\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Baroness Sherlock<\/a>, Minister of State in the House of Lords, confirmed the benefit increases in November 2025. She said the Standard Minimum Guarantee in Pension Credit would rise by 4.8 per cent in line with average earnings, while other State Pension and benefit rates covered by the statutory review would increase by 3.8 per cent in line with the Consumer Prices Index for the year to September 2025. According to the report, these can include <a href=\"https:\/\/en.econostrum.info\/uk\/uk-government-cut-housing-benefit-landlords\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"103993\">Housing Benefit<\/a>, a Winter Fuel Payment worth up to \u00a3300, a Council Tax discount and a free television licence for people aged 75 or over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recipients may also qualify for \u00a3150 towards winter energy bills through the Warm Home Discount scheme, alongside help with NHS dental treatment, glasses and certain transport costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To qualify for Pension Credit, a person must have reached State Pension age and live in England, Scotland or Wales. Applications can be made <strong>up to four months<\/strong> before reaching State Pension age or at any point afterwards. Claims can be backdated by a maximum of three months, meaning eligible applicants may receive up to three months of Pension Credit in their first payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Government provides an online<strong> Pension Credit calculator<\/strong> for people seeking an estimate of their entitlement.
