Britain could experience a short spell of warmer weather on Sunday, 6 September<\/strong>, with temperatures forecast to reach 28C in parts of southern and eastern England. Weather maps show London, Essex, the South East and East Anglia among the areas expected to record the highest temperatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The warmer conditions are not forecast to extend evenly across the country. Northern England is expected to remain in the high teens and low 20s, while many parts of Scotland could stay in the low to mid-teens, creating a marked north-south difference during the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Southern England Could See Temperatures Climb Through Sunday<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to WX Charts maps, a broad area of warmer weather is forecast across southern England by midday on Sunday<\/strong>. London is shown at around 27C, while Cambridge is close to 26C and Oxford is also expected to reach the mid-20s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Conditions along the south coast are forecast to be similar. Southampton, Portsmouth, Winchester, Chichester and Brighton are generally shown between 24C and 26C at 12 noon, while temperatures <\/strong>across parts of the South East and East Anglia are expected to sit in the mid to high 20s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contrast becomes clearer farther north. Much of northern England is shown remaining in the high teens and low 20s, while Scotland is forecast to be cooler, with many locations staying in the low to mid-teens. By 6pm, the second WX Charts <\/a><\/strong>map indicates that the highest temperatures could be concentrated across southern and eastern England. According to the Express, London, Chelmsford and Southend-on-Sea are each shown at around 28C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Several other locations are forecast to reach 27C, including Colchester, Cambridge, Canterbury, St Albans, Oxford and Chichester. Winchester, Norwich, Brighton, Portsmouth, Southampton and Peterborough are shown at around 26C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Met Office Outlook Keeps the Wider Picture Unsettled<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The warmer spell comes within a broader forecast that remains unsettled. According to the Met Office long-range outlook for Friday, 4 September to Sunday, 13 September,<\/strong> most areas are likely to see showers or longer periods of rain at times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The forecast says northern and western areas are expected to see the main focus of the wetter weather<\/a>, while the southeast has the best chance of longer dry spells. Strong and gusty winds are also possible at times, with the northwest more likely to experience them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Temperatures over the wider period are expected to remain near average, although the Met Office <\/strong>says \u201csome short-lived warm or very warm spells are possible, especially in the south<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Sunday itself, the WX Charts data places the highest forecast temperatures in London, Chelmsford and Southend-on-Sea at 28C. Colchester, Cambridge, Canterbury, St Albans, Oxford and Chichester follow at 27C, while six other cities are shown at 26C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The maps therefore point to a brief concentration of warmer conditions across southern and eastern England rather than a nationwide rise in temperatures.
