Temperatures had already dropped to around 27C by Saturday and were forecast to peak at 26C on Sunday. The <strong>Met Office<\/strong> also expects rain to reach many parts of the UK during the week, followed by fresher conditions as rainfall clears southwards on Tuesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Rain Returns as Temperatures Fall Across London<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The first period of significant rain in London is forecast for Tuesday, 18 August. According to <strong>MyLondon<\/strong>, showers are expected from early morning into late afternoon, while temperatures will still reach 25C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wednesday, 19 August, is forecast to bring patches of sunshine and a high of 23C before another spell of rain arrives on Thursday. Light showers and a gentle breeze are expected that day, with the temperature dropping to 21C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Friday is forecast to bring sunny intervals and light winds, also with a high of 21C. Rain is then expected again on Saturday, 22 August, when the maximum temperature is forecast to fall to 20C, the lowest figure given for the period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The national outlook broadly reflects this change. According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metoffice.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Met Office<\/strong><\/a>, rain is expected to clear gradually southwards through Tuesday, introducing fresher conditions. Southern areas are expected to be largely dry on Wednesday, while showers become more widespread on Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The change comes after prolonged hot and dry conditions in the capital. After sunny intervals on Sunday, 23 August, and patchy sunshine on Monday, 24 August, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.econostrum.info\/uk\/temperatures-spike-this-week-amber-alert\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"123817\">temperatures<\/a> are forecast to reach 22C on both days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tuesday, 25 August, and Wednesday, 26 August, are both forecast to bring light rain and a gentle breeze. Temperatures are expected to reach 22C on Tuesday and 23C on Wednesday. <strong>MyLondon<\/strong> describes this as the heaviest period of rainfall currently forecast, with showers expected on both days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Thursday, 27 August, is forecast to bring patchy sunshine and a high of 23C, followed by sunny intervals and the same temperature on Friday. A final spell of significant rain is forecast for Saturday, 29 August, with light rain showers, light winds and a high of 23C.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The longer-range <strong>Met Office<\/strong> forecast, covering 20 to 29 August, says the opening days of the period are likely to remain changeable, with showers or longer spells of rain affecting many parts of the UK. High pressure may become increasingly probable over northern and western areas, while lower pressure to the south could bring further showers and longer periods of rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Temperatures across the UK remain more likely to be above normal than below overall, according to the forecast, although the possibility of widespread or exceptional heat is lower than in recent weeks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>London is forecast to see six days of rain before the end of August, bringing a marked change after the capital\u2019s fifth heatwave of the summer.
