Lloyds Banking Group has owned Halifax since 2009 and confirmed that most Halifax branches will either close or become Lloyds branches where another location is available nearby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company said customers will keep their existing banking arrangements, including their account numbers and sort codes, during the transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Campaigners Raise Concerns Over Branch Access<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The decline in branch numbers has raised concerns among groups representing older and vulnerable customers. The Civil Service Pensioners\u2019 Alliance said closures were creating barriers for some pensioners who still rely on in-person banking for everyday financial tasks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The debate reflects wider changes across the banking industry, as more customers move towards mobile apps and online services. At the same time, campaigners argue that some customers still need access to physical branches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">UK Banks Continue to Reduce Physical Networks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Halifax is part of a broader trend affecting the UK banking sector. <strong>NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.econostrum.info\/uk\/santander-warns-one-small-mistake\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Santander<\/a> and Lloyds<\/strong> have also reduced their branch networks, while Barclays has announced plans to open additional branches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Halifax previously <strong>closed 25 branches in June<\/strong> and has confirmed further closures are planned for October and November.
