The recent spell of warm weather is forecast to come to an end as a weather front moves across the UK on Saturday and Sunday. The change follows several weeks of above-average temperatures and unusually dry conditions, with some areas already affected by hosepipe bans<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While many regions are expected to experience rain over the weekend, the south-east of England is likely to avoid the heaviest downpours, although scattered showers remain possible. Temperatures are also expected to return to values closer to the seasonal average.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rain to Spread Gradually Across the Country Over the Weekend<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to the Met Office, rain is expected to reach Scotland’s north-west coast during the early hours of Saturday before gradually extending south-eastwards through the day. Northern Ireland will also see wet weather early on Saturday, with the rain reaching northern parts of England by mid-morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During Saturday afternoon, showers are forecast to spread into north-west England, north Wales and later Yorkshire. England and Wales are expected to remain largely dry on Saturday night, although another band of rain is forecast to affect Scotland and Northern Ireland before moving south during the early hours of Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By 7am on Sunday, rain is expected across parts of Scotland, Wales, north-west England, Yorkshire and the Midlands. The wet weather is then forecast to extend into south-west England by mid-morning. According to Met Office <\/a>forecast maps<\/strong> reported by several UK news outlets, cloud cover will become widespread by early Sunday afternoon, when rainfall is expected to be at its most extensive across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Showers are forecast to ease in many areas by Sunday evening<\/strong>. Forecast maps indicate that the heaviest rainfall later on Sunday could affect parts of East Yorkshire near Hull, where between 16mm and 32mm of rain is expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
