Dealz stores in the Republic of Ireland will also shut at 7pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The decision covers branches that usually trade later, including shops in retail parks, shopping centres and major city-centre locations. Poundland retail director Alan Smallman said the earlier closing time would give employees more time to travel home and watch the match with their families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em>We want to give as many colleagues as possible the chance to watch tonight\u2019s game<\/em>,\u201d he said to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thesun.co.uk\/money\/39762381\/major-high-street-chain-shuts-stores-early\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Sun<\/a>, adding that staff had been working hard during the tournament. Smyths Toys will close all its stores in England at 6pm, giving employees two hours before kick-off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currys will shut almost <strong>300 stores at 7pm<\/strong>. <strong>Matthew Speight<\/strong>, the company\u2019s director of stores, said customers would still have time during the day to buy a television or other equipment before the match.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Opening hours may vary for individual branches, so shoppers should check the retailer\u2019s store locator before travelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tesco Could Change Sunday Trading Hours<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Tesco has also announced plans linked to England\u2019s progress in the tournament. The supermarket chain said its <strong>2,000 Express stores<\/strong> would close at<strong> 7.30pm on Sunday<\/strong> if England defeat Argentina and advance to the final.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Larger Tesco supermarkets already operate under Sunday trading restrictions in England, while Express branches normally stay open later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The temporary closures show how<a href=\"https:\/\/en.econostrum.info\/uk\/major-charity-retail-chain-first-closures\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> major retailers<\/a> are adjusting trading hours around a national sporting event.
