notices in its stores explaining why the product has been withdrawn and what customers should do.

The FSA explained that food products may be withdrawn from sale or recalled from consumers when there is a risk linked to missing or incorrect allergy labelling. In such cases, it issues an Allergy Alert to inform the public and reduce the risk to consumers affected by food allergies.

This recall follows another recent food safety notice involving fresh fruit products sold by several major UK supermarkets. Earlier in the week, Morrisons, Tesco, Asda, Waitrose, Marks & Spencer and Sainsbury’s recalled selected fruit pots because of concerns about possible salmonella contamination. According to the Food Standards Agency, consumers who had bought the affected fruit products were also advised not to eat them and to return them to the retailer for a full refund.

The current recall, identified by reference FSA-AA-33-2026, applies specifically to the Morrisons Maple & Bacon Back of the Net snack with the stated best-before date. Customers without a milk allergy or intolerance are not included in the allergy advice issued by the Food Standards Agency, while those who are affected have been advised not to consume the product and to return it for a refund.

Customers with a milk allergy or intolerance have been told not to eat one batch of Morrisons Maple & Bacon Back of the Net after an incorrect product may have been packed inside.
