According to consumer group Which?, the banking group is expected to close 233 branches by the end of 2026, while a further 12 are expected to shut in 2027. The latest round of closures affects branches in England, Scotland and Wales and comes amid a broader decline in the number of bank branches operating across the UK.

The changes reflect a trend seen throughout the banking sector. According to Which?, 6,693 bank branches across the UK closed between January 2015 and January 2026. During the same period, Lloyds Banking Group closed nearly 1,600 branches, more than any other banking network in the country.

The first closures are due to take place on 22 June. They include the Bank of Scotland branch in Lochgilphead, located on Poltalloch Street, as well as Lloyds Bank branches in Hoddesdon, Kingswinford and Camberwell in south London. A further four Lloyds Bank branches are scheduled to close on 23 June. These are located in Aberdare, Coalville, Heswall and Ringwood.

On 24 June, Halifax’s branch in Chorley is due to shut, alongside Lloyds Bank branches in Didcot and Newmarket. The final closure listed for the week is Halifax’s Croydon branch on North End, which is scheduled to close on 25 June.

The closures affect branches spread across a wide geographical area, covering communities in England, Scotland and Wales. They form part of the banking group’s wider restructuring of its branch network as customer behaviour continues to shift towards online and mobile banking services.

Despite the ongoing reduction in branch numbers, Lloyds Banking Group says customers will continue to have access to in-person banking options.

Eleven Branches Scheduled to Close Between 22 and 25 June
