Prof <strong>Adam Scaife<\/strong> of the UK <a href=\"https:\/\/www.metoffice.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Met Office<\/strong><\/a> noted that this El Ni\u00f1o \u201c<em>rides on top of a substantial amount of global warming,<\/em>\u201d meaning affected regions could experience unprecedented temperatures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Previous years illustrate the potential impact. The Met Office says El Ni\u00f1o may tilt the odds toward a mild start and a colder end to winter, though such effects are not guaranteed.
