Blue Light Card members can access switching incentives from several UK energy suppliers, with gift cards ranging from £25 to £100 depending on the tariff and services chosen. The offers come as households prepare for a rise in the energy price cap from July 1, when average annual bills for customers on standard variable tariffs are set to increase.

Energy suppliers including EDF, ScottishPower, So Energy and Utility Warehouse are offering gift cards to certain customers through the Blue Light Card scheme. The discounts and incentives are available to eligible frontline workers and, in some cases, retirees who hold a valid membership.

According to the scheme, the offers are linked to switching energy tariffs or bundling utility services. The announcement arrives ahead of a scheduled increase in the energy price cap, which is expected to affect millions of households across the UK.

Suppliers Outline Different Switching Incentives

The value of the gift cards varies between providers and depends on the type of tariff selected. ScottishPower is offering Blue Light Card members a £42.50 Amazon gift card when switching a single fuel tariff and an £85 Amazon gift card for customers moving both gas and electricity through a dual-fuel tariff.

EDF is providing a £25 gift card for customers purchasing a single-fuel tariff and a £50 gift card for those choosing dual-fuel plans. According to the offer details, the eligible tariffs are Simply Fixed and Simply Tracker. Customers can select gift cards from a range of retailers and services including Amazon, Aldi, Tesco, ASOS, Merlin Days Out and The Restaurant Group. The offer is scheduled to run until December 31, 2026.

So Energy is offering a £40 Amazon gift card to both new and existing customers who switch dual-fuel accounts from a standard variable tariff to a fixed tariff. Utility Warehouse has introduced a separate incentive linked to bundled services rather than tariff switching alone.

Under Utility Warehouse’s scheme, homeowners can receive up to £100 in Love2shop gift cards depending on the number of services they combine. One service qualifies for £25, while four services qualify for £100. Tenants are also eligible, although the available gift card values are lower. The qualifying services include energy, broadband and mobile products.
