Each evening, people will be able to collect surplus food, including<strong> chilled products, meat, fish, poultry,<\/strong> and popular <strong>bakery items.<\/strong> The initiative is coordinated through the <a href=\"https:\/\/olioapp.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Olio app,<\/a> connecting volunteers\u2014called Food Waste Heroes\u2014with residents in need.<\/p>\n<p>The programme ensures that surplus food reaches communities and charities even when other distribution channels are unavailable. The collection is completely free, making it accessible to households facing financial difficulties. Lidl has emphasized that the initiative complements, rather than replaces, existing charitable food distribution.<\/p>\n<h2>Fighting Food Waste While Helping Communities<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Matt Juden<\/strong>, Head of Sustainability at <strong>Lidl GB<\/strong>, said: \u201c<em>At Lidl GB, we believe that no good food should ever go to waste.
