Eligible households in <strong>England<\/strong> and <strong>Wales<\/strong> are expected to receive the money between November and December to help with heating costs during winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pensioners Under 80 Could Receive \u00a3200 Automatically<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The DWP confirmed that pensioners born before<strong> June 27, 1960<\/strong> may qualify for this year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/winter-fuel-payment\/eligibility\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Winter Fuel Payment<\/strong><\/a>. This includes pensioners receiving the <strong>State Pension<\/strong>, <strong>Pension Credit<\/strong>, <strong>Universal Credit<\/strong>, <strong>Attendance Allowance, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.econostrum.info\/uk\/government-review-pip-eligibility-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Personal Independence Payment (PIP)<\/a><\/strong> and several other qualifying benefits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other eligible benefits include <strong>Carer\u2019s Allowance, Disability Living Allowance, income-related Employment and Support Allowance<\/strong> and payments from the <strong>War Pensions Scheme<\/strong>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/en.econostrum.info\/uk\/dwp-can-now-take-away-your-driving-licence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DWP<\/a> said people who have never received a Winter Fuel Payment before or who previously deferred their State Pension may need to apply separately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eligible pensioners are expected to receive confirmation letters during <strong>October<\/strong> and <strong>November<\/strong> explaining how much they will receive and when the money will arrive. Anyone who has not received their payment by<strong> January 27, 2027<\/strong>, has been advised to contact the Winter Fuel Payment Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Higher Earners Could Repay the Money Through Tax<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Government also confirmed that pensioners with total annual incomes above <strong>\u00a335,000<\/strong> may effectively repay the Winter Fuel Payment through the tax system. <a href=\"https:\/\/en.econostrum.info\/uk\/hmrc-tax-refund-scams-immediately\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HMRC<\/a> could recover the payment either through changes to tax codes or through Self Assessment tax returns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pensioners who do not wish to receive the payment can choose to opt out before the September deadline.&nbsp;Winter Fuel Payments continue to provide financial support for millions of older people across England and Wales as energy costs remain a concern for many households.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The DWP said most payments will begin arriving automatically before the end of the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Millions of pensioners could receive an automatic payment later this year as the DWP confirms new Winter Fuel Payment details.
