The recall affects selected items from the Stretcherz stretch squad assortment<\/em><\/strong> and Slammerz assortment<\/em><\/strong> lines. The action follows a notice from the Office for Product Safety and Standards<\/em><\/strong>, which warned that the products pose a potential health risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The supermarket said it has received no reports of harm, yet it has withdrawn the toys from sale and is offering full refunds. The recall notice includes detailed instructions for handling and disposing of the affected items safely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recall Follows Asbestos Contamination Warning<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

According to the Office for Product Safety and Standards<\/em> (OPSS<\/a>)<\/em><\/strong>, the toys present \u201ca risk to health as the sand may be contaminated with a small quantity of asbestos<\/em>.\u201d Asbestos is a banned substance in the UK because of the health risks linked to inhalation, even at low levels of exposure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The OPSS stated that the products do not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011<\/em><\/strong>. As a result, the items have been formally recalled and removed from sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The affected Stretch Squad Assortment<\/em><\/strong> toys carry the barcode 5050837662419 and were sold between January 2024 and February 2026. The Slammerz Assortment<\/em><\/strong> toys, with barcode 5050835105345, were available from January 2025 to February 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The regulator also cautioned that there may be additional distributors of the toys and indicated that further instructions would be issued in due course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a statement, Asda<\/em><\/strong> said: \u201cWhile we have received no reports of harm, we are taking this action out of an abundance of caution and in line with our commitment to the highest standards of safety and quality<\/em>.\u201d The retailer apologized for the inconvenience and provided contact details for customer support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Customers Advised to Stop Use Immediately and Follow Strict Disposal Steps<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Customers who purchased the affected toys have been instructed to stop using them \u201cimmediately<\/em>.\u201d According to the recall notice issued alongside Asda<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, specific precautions must be taken when handling the sand material inside the products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the sand remains sealed within its packaging, customers are advised to place it in a heavy-duty plastic bag, double tape it securely, label it clearly, and store it in a secure location out of the reach of children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the sand has already been used, the guidance states that areas where the product was handled should be cleaned with wet cloths to avoid generating dust. Customers are instructed to wear gloves and a mask during the process and to double bag the sand, gloves, mask, and cloths before disposal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The notice also advises keeping children and others away from any area where the sand has been used until cleaning is complete. Customers are encouraged to return the sand vials from the product to their nearest Asda<\/em><\/strong> store for a full refund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
