Birmingham Mail<\/a><\/em> reports that the test will involve a loud, siren-like sound accompanied by a message on-screen, lasting around ten seconds. Drivers are being reminded not to touch or check their phones during the alert. What Drivers Must Avoid During the Drill<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Motorists who are driving at the time of the test must not interact with the alert, even briefly. Under current road laws, holding or using a mobile device while behind the wheel is illegal and can lead to severe penalties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Graham Conway<\/strong>, of leading UK vehicle leasing firm Select Car Leasing<\/em>, explained:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s important that tests are carried out to ensure the system works as it should.
But the rules of the road still stand. Motorists who are driving at the time of the test, at 3pm next Sunday<\/strong>, should not read or respond to the alert as it\u2019s illegal to use a mobile while driving.
