A precautionary recall has been issued in Northern Ireland <\/strong>for a range of ready-to-heat meals following a listeriosis outbreak in the Republic of Ireland. The outbreak has claimed one life and left several others affected, prompting action from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI<\/a>) and the Food Standards Agency (FSA) in Northern Ireland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The recall, initiated by Ballymaguire Foods<\/strong>, a company based in Co Dublin, targets various meals sold under major supermarket brands, including Tesco, Supervalu, and Centra. These products are feared to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, a bacterium that can cause listeriosis, a potentially severe infection, particularly in vulnerable groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Listeriosis Outbreak Prompts Urgent Recall<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The recall affects several types of ready-to-heat meals, including chicken pasta bakes<\/strong>, beef stroganoff,<\/strong> and pilau rice<\/strong>, among others. According to the FSAI, the outbreak has already resulted in nine confirmed cases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although no cases have been reported in Northern Ireland at the time of publication, the precautionary recall <\/a>was issued as a safeguard to prevent further spread. Consumers who have purchased affected products are urged to return them to the store for a full refund.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The FSAI has also identified the risk associated with specific batches of Good Food Locally Sourced and other meals sold under private labels. These products, which were available in stores such as Mace, Centra, and Musgrave Marketplace, are being withdrawn as a preventive measure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
