Scottish Labour<\/strong>, SNP, and Green MSPs have shown rare unity in their calls for the UK government to deliver justice to WASPI<\/strong> <\/a>women. Social Justice Secretary Shirley Anne-Somerville <\/strong>will lead a Holyrood debate urging the Labour government to adopt the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman\u2019s (PHSO) recommendations for compensation. The PHSO proposed payments of \u00a31,000 to \u00a32,950 for each impacted woman<\/strong>, citing maladministration in the handling of the state pension age increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar<\/strong> and deputy leader Jackie Baillie <\/strong>have distanced themselves from their UK counterparts, criticising the refusal to offer financial redress. They added that 90%<\/strong> of women born in the 1950s were aware of the changes by 2006.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
