Dramatic weather maps have pinpointed the exact date when an intense heat blast will send temperatures across the UK surging back into the 30s.

Following a mixed start to June, with temperatures fluctuating between mild and warm conditions, the upcoming heat wave will bring significant temperature increases, especially across southern and southeastern parts of the country.

The shift in weather patterns, marked by rising humidity and sustained high temperatures, has been identified by weather experts, including sources from Mirror, who have analyzed new forecast data showing the rapid change in conditions expected by mid-June.

These charts highlight a notable temperature spike that will affect various regions.

The Arrival of Intense Heat Mid-June

After an unsettled start to June, with temperatures fluctuating between 21°C and 25°C, the UK is set to experience a significant temperature rise.

New weather maps from WXCharts, created using data from MetDesk, show a dramatic shift starting around June 16, when highs could reach 31°C just outside London. The south and southeast of England will feel the most intense heat, with regions like Maidstone in Kent potentially seeing temperatures surpassing 31°C.

In Reading and London, highs are expected to approach 30°C, making for a sweltering mid-June.

Aside from the coastal areas in the east and west, where temperatures will remain cooler at around 22°C, much of England will experience highs ranging from 27°C to 29°C.

These higher temperatures are expected to persist across the Midlands and northern England, with places like Newcastle and northern Scotland seeing temperatures from 18°C to 25°C.

Lairg, a village in Sutherland, is expected to see 23°C, offering a somewhat more moderate climate compared to the rest of the country.

Weather Instability Leading Up to Mid-June

The forecast from June 7 to June 16 states:

The unsettled weather of previous days is expected to continue at least through the start of this period, with many – if not all – areas seeing showers or longer spells of rain, and occasionally strong winds. At first, wet weather may be focused across the south of the UK, but it looks like this focus will fairly quickly shift northwards during the first few days.

This period is expected to bring periods of rain and strong winds, with some areas experiencing more intense weather patterns. The south of the UK, in particular, will bear the brunt of the early rain, which will gradually shift northward as the weather stabilizes.

As the middle of June approaches, the chance for high-pressure systems to dominate increases, leading to drier spells for some areas. According to the forecast,

Towards the middle of June, there is an increased chance that high pressure will become more dominant, at least in the south.

The Met Office’s Long-Range Forecast

By mid-June, the UK is expected to experience a notable change in conditions, with a greater likelihood of warmer spells taking over after a cool start. The forecast states that this shift will

Result in some longer periods of drier weather, although unsettled spells remain likely.

Despite this, the overall weather trend will likely be warmer. The forecast continues,

Following a rather cool start to this period, there is a greater chance of warmer spells towards mid-June.

According to the Met Office, while the warmer conditions may settle in, the country will still experience fluctuations, as unsettled spells remain a possibility. This variability is typical of the UK’s summer months, where intense heatwaves can quickly be followed by periods of rain and cooler temperatures.

Preparing for a Warmer-Than-Usual June

Looking ahead to the rest of the month, there is an increasing chance that heatwaves will become more frequent, given the rising temperatures in mid-June.

The potential for high-pressure systems to bring drier weather is a welcome change for many, but the possibility of unsettled weather remains a key factor in shaping the overall climate for June.

With temperatures surging to 31°C in some areas and highs remaining in the upper 20s and low 30s across much of England, it’s clear that summer will bring both intense heat and the possibility of further unpredictable weather shifts.

For those living in the south and southeast, this mid-June heat burst will be particularly intense, while other parts of the UK will experience a cooler but still relatively warm period.
