Uber Announces Big Discounts for NHS Workers on Christmas Day

Uber is continuing its long-standing tradition of offering discounts to healthcare workers over the Christmas period, providing a much-needed boost to those working on the holiday. For the ninth consecutive year, the taxi giant is offering NHS and Health and Social Care (HSC) staff in the UK discounted Uber rides and Uber Eats vouchers, a gesture meant to ease the burden on workers who sacrifice family time to care for patients.

The initiative, which provides ÂŁ10 off two Uber rides on December 25, 2025, and a ÂŁ10 Uber Eats voucher for meals or groceries, is a way for Uber to express appreciation for healthcare professionals who work tirelessly during the festive season.

A Lifeline for NHS Workers During the Holidays

The Christmas period can be especially difficult for NHS workers, who are often away from their families, working long hours to care for patients. According to Uber, many healthcare professionals rely on taxis for transport due to the limited public transportation options available on Christmas Day. The festive offer aims to relieve some of that strain, making travel and meals more accessible.

Steve Bater, money-saving expert at NHS Discount Offers, praised the initiative, stating that it’s a “meaningful way” to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of NHS and HSC workers over the holidays. “This initiative by Uber is a simple but meaningful way of acknowledging just how grateful we all are for the vital work healthcare staff do both at Christmas and throughout the year. It’s great to see Uber giving health staff workers a chance to ease the burden of a busy Festive period, and enjoy a well earned meal.” Bater told Manchester Evening News.

To receive the discounts, eligible staff must ensure their Uber account is linked to an NHS or HSC email address by 23:59 on December 21, 2025. Workers who meet the criteria will then receive a unique promotional code via email that can be redeemed on Christmas Day. The offer includes ÂŁ10 off two Uber rides on December 25, 2025, as well as a ÂŁ10 Uber Eats voucher, usable for either meals or groceries.

Why It Matters: Recognizing Healthcare Workers

The importance of this offer extends beyond the convenience of discounted services, it represents a tangible form of recognition for NHS staff who give up their Christmas Day to provide care. Uber’s decision to launch this initiative also highlights how companies can support essential workers, especially during times when they face challenges accessing services that many take for granted.

Andrew Brem, General Manager at Uber UK, emphasized the company’s commitment to supporting NHS workers, acknowledging that healthcare professionals across the UK are “working tirelessly” over Christmas. “Uber wants to ensure travel and food aren’t a worry for them over Christmas while they work,” Brem explained.

This yearly initiative, which began several years ago, has proven to be incredibly popular with NHS workers. It not only provides practical support but also delivers a powerful message of appreciation from the public. Given the challenges of the healthcare system and the demands on healthcare staff, these gestures of support are crucial in showing that the country values their sacrifices.

Eligible NHS and HSC workers must link their Uber account to an official NHS or HSC email address before the end of December 21, 2025. After this, they will receive a promotional code, which can be used on Christmas Day. The voucher can be redeemed for either Uber rides or meal deliveries, allowing healthcare professionals to focus on their work, rather than worrying about how to get around or what to eat.
