Tesco Customers Urged to Use £16.5M Worth of Expiring Vouchers Before November 30

Tesco has issued a reminder to its Clubcard members this month, encouraging shoppers to redeem expiring vouchers before they are lost. The retailer revealed that £16.5 million worth of Clubcard vouchers will become invalid by the end of November, prompting a nationwide push to alert users of the looming cut-off.

The vouchers, part of Tesco’s long-running loyalty scheme, are valid for two years from the date of issue. With more than 24 million households currently signed up to the programme, the supermarket is aiming to reduce the amount of unredeemed rewards by offering new incentives and highlighting the value of unused points.

Short expiry window puts pressure on Clubcard users

According to Tesco, the £16.5 million in vouchers due to expire could translate into substantial savings if used promptly. Each voucher can be redeemed in a variety of ways – including in-store purchases, fuel, or mobile credit with Tesco Mobile. For those looking to maximise value, vouchers can also be exchanged for double or triple their face value through Clubcard Reward Partners, offering discounts on restaurants, entertainment and travel.

One of the current promotions includes Tesco Tuesdays, a scheme launched in partnership with Cineworld, where Clubcard holders can obtain cinema tickets for Tuesday screenings at £5 – equivalent to just £2.50 in vouchers. Another deal allows customers to triple their voucher value with PizzaExpress, turning £10 in Clubcard points into £30 off a food bill.

Shama Wilson, Tesco’s Group Membership and Loyalty Director, said the retailer’s aim is to ensure no one misses the opportunity. “The value of vouchers expiring is higher than usual this quarter,” she noted. “If all the vouchers expiring were used for Tesco Tuesdays it would be enough to get 6.6million cinema tickets at Cineworld. If they were exchanged with PizzaExpress they could secure an amazing £49.5million of reward codes towards food, so it really is worth checking in the Tesco app to see if you have any vouchers expiring.”

Tesco promotes broader use of loyalty scheme

Tesco’s Clubcard programme remains one of the UK’s most used loyalty systems, with widespread participation across its network of stores and services. Members can accumulate points by presenting their card at checkout, fuelling up at Tesco petrol stations, or even while charging electric vehicles at selected Pod Point stations within Tesco sites.

The retailer is actively promoting the broader uses of the Clubcard to encourage consistent engagement. As consumer costs remain a concern for many households, loyalty schemes have grown in significance, with rewards now seen not just as added extras, but as essential savings tools.

The retailer’s push aligns with a wider trend in UK retail, where supermarkets are increasingly tying personalised offers and digital rewards to loyalty cards. The supermarket’s mobile app has become central to this approach, offering real-time visibility into voucher balances and expiry dates, helping users stay informed and avoid lapses.

As the 30 November deadline approaches, Tesco is reminding customers that once expired, vouchers cannot be reinstated. The company is encouraging members to log into their Clubcard account via the app or website to verify any pending vouchers and decide on how best to use them.
