London commuters should prepare for significant disruptions across several key transport lines this week. According to Transport for London (TfL), closures and service reductions will affect the Central line, Elizabeth line, and Overground network between May 19 and May 22, with station shutdowns and train delays scheduled each evening.

These disruptions come at a busy time when many are returning to regular work schedules after a long weekend. Understanding the scope and timing of these changes is essential for planning journeys and avoiding unexpected delays.

Central and Elizabeth Lines See Evening Closures and Limited Stops

The Central line will experience station closures late each evening from Monday through Thursday. According to TfL, trains will no longer stop at Queensway station after 10 pm, with the station itself closing at the same time.

Passengers are advised to use nearby Lancaster Gate or Notting Hill Gate stations or to connect via local bus services. Additionally, westbound trains will not stop at Roding Valley station until the end of July, requiring passengers to travel eastbound first and change at Chigwell.

The Elizabeth line, also known as the Lizzie line, will operate with reduced service between West Drayton and Maidenhead, as well as at Heathrow Terminal 4 during late evenings from May 19 to 21.

Trains will not stop at Acton Main Line, Hanwell, or West Ealing stations after 10 pm. Both Acton Main Line and Hanwell stations will close nightly just before 11 pm on these days.

Overground Lines Face Delays and Partial Closures Due to Staffing and Faults

On the Overground network, several lines will be affected by severe delays and partial closures. The Suffragette line will face significant delays on Monday and Tuesday caused by a shortage of train crew, according to TfL.

Meanwhile, the Mildmay line will experience severe delays after a faulty train incident at Imperial Wharf, with the 10:29 pm service from Stratford to Richmond terminating early at Camden Road.

The Windrush line will close after 9:15 pm on affected days, shutting down the route between Highbury and Islington and stations including New Cross, New Cross Gate, and Clapham Junction. Commuters are encouraged to check for alternative routes and plan journeys ahead of time.
