A crucial update for people on Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and Adult Disability Payment (ADP) is arriving next week, as the Motability Scheme unveils its latest price list. Starting October 1, 2025, this update will impact hundreds of thousands of individuals across the UK, offering new leasing options for accessible vehicles and equipment.
The Motability Scheme continues to be a lifeline for many, enabling people with disabilities to lease cars, scooters, powered wheelchairs, and other mobility aids by transferring all or part of their mobility allowance. With over 815,000 people currently using the scheme, it plays a vital role in allowing disabled individuals to maintain independence and access essential services.
Autumn Price List: What’s New?
On October 1, 2025, the Motability Scheme will release its updated price list for the next quarter. According to Motability Operations, the list will provide revised prices for over 860 vehicles, including cars, Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles (WAVs), scooters, and powered wheelchairs. These updates are crucial for customers who rely on the scheme to manage their mobility needs, especially in a climate of rising inflation and fuel costs.
The Motability Scheme has long been seen as a solution for those with disabilities to access a vehicle suited to their individual needs. The update is expected to offer more choice in leasing vehicles, with options to suit various budgets. As always, customers will be provided with a full leasing package, which includes vehicle insurance, breakdown assistance, servicing, maintenance, and windscreen repair. However, some vehicles may still require an advance payment, which can range from £100 to £2,000.
It’s important to note that the Motability Scheme’s price list is updated every three months. The new prices reflect not only the shifting economic landscape but also the increasing availability of electric vehicles (EVs), which are becoming a more popular choice within the scheme.
How the Scheme Continues to Empower Customers
The Motability Scheme plays a crucial role in supporting the mobility and independence of disabled individuals. According to Lisa Thomas, Chief Customer Officer at Motability Operations, the scheme enables people to work an additional two days per week on average, thanks to the convenience of leased vehicles. This autonomy significantly improves quality of life for customers, allowing them to travel to work, attend medical appointments, or simply enjoy leisure activities with greater freedom.
The scheme is open to individuals in receipt of qualifying mobility benefits, such as PIP, ADP, Disability Living Allowance (DLA), and Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP). Customers can choose from a wide variety of vehicles, including electric cars, family models, and specially adapted vehicles to meet their specific needs.
The upcoming price list will not only reflect current market conditions but also incorporate ongoing developments in mobility options, including the shift toward electric and hybrid vehicles. As the demand for EVs continues to grow, the Motability Scheme has adjusted its offerings, ensuring customers can transition smoothly into a more sustainable future.
