In Birmingham, the Birmingham Voluntary Service Council (BVSC) has been tasked with distributing the Hardship Grant Community Fund (HGCF), offering one-off £200 payments to eligible applicants. According to Birmingham City Council, the latest round of the fund, known as HSF Round 6, received approval in April 2024, extending support to struggling residents.

While various forms of assistance have been made available under the Household Support Fund, this specific grant is designed to help with food and energy costs, which have seen significant price increases in recent years.

Eligibility Criteria and Application Process

The scheme is targeted at Birmingham residents facing financial hardship, with clear eligibility criteria in place. To qualify, applicants must:
