Millions of Nationwide customers could be in line for £100 bonus payouts this summer as part of the building society’s Fairer Share bonus scheme. This initiative, which has rewarded loyal customers in both 2023 and 2024, is designed to share profits with eligible members. While Nationwide has yet to officially confirm whether the scheme will return for 2025, past announcements suggest that details are likely to be revealed in May, with payments expected to follow in June.

Last year, a total of £385 million was distributed to 3.85 million members, making it one of the most significant profit-sharing initiatives among UK banks. With the cost of living remaining high, many customers are eager to know whether they will qualify for another payout. While some details remain uncertain, those hoping to benefit should ensure they meet key eligibility criteria in the early months of the year to maximise their chances.

When Will the Bonus Payments Be Announced?

If Nationwide follows the same pattern as previous years, the Fairer Share bonus scheme should be announced in May, with payments made in June. While the bank has not yet confirmed its return, industry experts believe it is highly likely that the initiative will continue for a third year.

Martin Lewis’ MoneySavingExpert (MSE) has also weighed in on the matter, stating:

“For the past two years, Nationwide has given some existing customers a £100 ‘Fairer Share’ bonus. It’s likely, though not guaranteed, to do the same again this year. In previous years, the scheme has been announced in May and paid in June, though whether you got it depended on if you met the qualifying criteria in the first three months of the year—so now’s the perfect time to maximise your chances.”

How to Qualify for the Bonus

While the exact eligibility criteria for 2025 have not yet been confirmed, previous schemes required customers to:

  • Keep their Nationwide current account open until at least March 31.
  • Actively use their current account, making regular transactions each month up until the end of March.

Last year, different account types had slightly varying criteria, meaning some members may have had to meet additional conditions. As Nationwide has not yet confirmed the specific requirements for 2025, customers should continue using their accounts as they normally would to ensure they remain eligible if the scheme is reintroduced.

A Significant Pay Out for Nationwide Members

The Fairer Share bonus scheme has been a major incentive for Nationwide members, with last year’s £385 million payout marking one of the largest in the UK banking sector. Eligible customers received £100 each, providing a welcome financial boost, especially amid rising living costs.

While confirmation for 2025 is still pending, those hoping to receive the bonus should keep an eye out for an announcement in May and ensure they meet the eligibility criteria by March 31.
