Payments from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will return to their normal schedule this June. Following altered payment timings in April and May due to public holidays, beneficiaries can now expect regular disbursements with no further disruptions anticipated this month.
The DWP oversees the administration of a broad range of benefits in the UK, many of which were paid early in the past two months because of Easter and early May bank holidays. With no bank holidays scheduled for June, the department has confirmed that all affected benefits will now follow standard payment timelines.
No Disruption Expected in June’s Benefit Disbursements
According to DWP guidance, benefits including Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Child Benefit, and Carer’s Allowance will revert to their usual payment dates. The change marks a return to standard administrative rhythm after two months of adjustments necessitated by public holidays.
Payments are issued directly to recipients’ chosen bank, building society, or credit union account. The absence of bank holidays in June means no changes to the usual cycle of weekly, fortnightly or four-weekly payments. This will impact millions of claimants, ensuring financial planning can proceed without additional administrative variables.
Other benefits returning to normal timing include Attendance Allowance, Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), Maternity Allowance, Income Support, Tax Credits, and Pension Credit, all of which are tied to specific periodic schedules.
According to DWP information, payment schedules are designed to align with claimants’ entitlement periods, unless adjusted due to national bank holidays or system-related changes.
Steps to Take if Payments Are Delayed or Missing
While no delays are forecast, the DWP advises recipients to take immediate action if expected payments do not appear. Beneficiaries are urged to verify whether funds have arrived by checking their online benefits portal, such as the Universal Credit journal, where messages and status updates are provided.
Should a payment fail to arrive, the claimant should first consult their account details and then contact the appropriate helpline. For Universal Credit, the DWP recommends calling 0800 328 5644, while PIP-related queries can be addressed at 0800 121 4433.
These services can offer guidance and resolve potential issues such as processing delays or requests for additional documentation.
In cases of financial hardship due to delayed payments, claimants may apply for an advance, which functions as an interest-free loan deducted from future disbursements. Applications can be made via local Jobcentre Plus branches or the relevant benefit contact centre.
The DWP also maintains a structured complaints procedure and encourages users to consult official letters for contact details or to visit the department’s website for further information.
