Burger King has rolled out its latest menu update, effective from 20 May, with a focus on both innovation and nostalgia. The announcement includes a mixture of completely new creations and the return of past favourites, all available for a limited time.

The launch comes at a time of heightened competition in the UK’s fast-food sector, as major players like McDonald’s have also recently expanded their offerings.

With options spanning from spicy to smoky, Burger King’s update aims to appeal to a wide range of customer preferences, while also leveraging its mobile app and loyalty programme to boost engagement.

New Products Lead Menu Innovation

The centrepiece of the update is the Kansas BBQ Chicken Fries, a new variation on one of Burger King’s staple snacks. According to the company, these chicken fries are coated in a sweet and smoky BBQ seasoning, offering a flavour profile tailored to summer tastes. They are available in six-piece portions starting from £5.49.

Complementing the chicken fries is the Kansas BBQ King Box, which includes a BBQ Chicken Stacker, fries, and a drink for £5.99. The box is designed as a value combo targeting lunchtime customers. Other options include the Sharer Box (from £7.29), which also incorporates the Kansas BBQ Chicken Fries.

The changes are part of what Burger King describes as a strategy to “fire up and cool down the taste buds,” targeting both spicy and milder flavour profiles. In line with this, the Spicy Mayo Double Whopper and the Spicy Mayo Chicken Royale also return to the menu.

Returning Favourites and App Promotions

One of the most anticipated returns is the Gourmet Kings Bacon Caesar range, originally launched in June 2024. This includes the Angus and Crispy Chicken versions, both priced from £8.19, and Loaded King Fries for £4.79. A delivery-exclusive version of the Bacon Caesar Loaded Nuggets is also available from £7.49.

To coincide with the launch, Burger King is offering promotional deals via its BK app. From 20 to 22 May, customers can redeem buy-one-get-one-free offers on Bacon Caesar burgers. A similar offer will apply to the Spicy Mayo range from 27 to 29 May.

The chain also continues to incentivise users of its YourBurgerKing rewards scheme, offering discounts and loyalty points that can be redeemed against future purchases. Customers earn 10 points for every £1 spent, with 100 bonus points granted upon placing their first order after signing up.

Registration for the scheme is available via the Burger King UK website, allowing members to accumulate points towards free items such as fries or burgers, and to access exclusive in-app promotions, including birthday offers.
