Aldi will bring the social media hit BuzzBallz to UK shelves from 22 May, priced at £2.99 each. The pre-mixed cocktails come in bold flavours and form part of the retailer’s limited-time Specialbuys range.
As warmer months approach, Aldi is positioning the ready-to-drink beverages as a budget-friendly option for outdoor gatherings and celebrations. The supermarket expects strong demand, following rising interest across social platforms.
Viral Success Meets Supermarket Rollout
Aldi is preparing to stock the US-origin cocktail brand BuzzBallz across stores nationwide, capitalising on its recent popularity online. The 200ml spherical cans—available in Choc Tease, Strawberry Rita and Tequila Rita—will retail at £2.99 and become available from 22 May, according to Express.co.uk.
The drink’s rise to prominence was largely driven by TikTok, where it garnered more than 45,000 views in recent weeks. Often featured in user-generated content around festivals, parties and summer events, BuzzBallz have become widely recognised among younger consumers for their eye-catching packaging and high alcohol content.
Aldi said the aim is to deliver “bold flavours and big vibes without breaking the bank”. Positioned as ideal for festivals, BBQs and summer socialising, the launch aligns with broader consumer trends in convenience and affordability.
Each drink is packaged in a recyclable ball-shaped container and is part of Aldi’s Specialbuys—products that are available for a limited time and in limited quantities.
Short-Term Availability Expected to Drive Demand
The cocktails will appear in Aldi’s middle aisle, home to the Specialbuys selection, which includes a rotating assortment of non-grocery items such as garden furniture, fitness gear and camping equipment. According to Aldi, BuzzBallz will be available only while stocks last, reinforcing the urgency often associated with this product line.
Once sold out, the items will not be restocked, reflecting the supermarket’s “when it’s gone, it’s gone” approach. This scarcity model has previously driven swift sales across various product categories, and Aldi anticipates a similar response to the cocktail launch.
The retailer has recently expanded its summer offerings to include garden equipment and fitness accessories, aiming to meet seasonal consumer needs. A spokesperson said Aldi continues to “bring new and exciting products to customers” to complement budget-conscious summer planning.
The supermarket chain has yet to confirm whether the cocktails will return after their initial run, suggesting that sales performance and customer feedback will determine their future availability.
