A Marks & Spencer superstore will replace a The Range branch in South Ruislip after local plans approved the transformation of the 61,000 sq ft retail site.
The new store will bring a large Foodhall, alongside clothing, homeware, beauty and lifestyle products, returning the retailer to the area after its previous High Street location closed in 2018.
The Range Store Will Close As M&S Moves Into Victoria Retail Park
The The Range outlet at Victoria Retail Park will shut as the site is converted into a new Marks & Spencer store. The move follows approval from Hillingdon Council, which backed proposals for the redevelopment.
According to The Sun, the project has received support from many residents who want more shopping options locally, while some people have raised concerns about potential job losses linked to The Range closure.
The council responded to 87 objections and said the employment impact would be offset by the creation of 123 new positions at the incoming M&S store.
New Store Will Include Foodhall, Clothing And Lifestyle Departments
The replacement store will cover a wide range of retail categories. Customers will find a Foodhall, as well as sections dedicated to fashion, home products, beauty items and other lifestyle goods.
The development is expected to provide a more convenient grocery option for residents who currently travel elsewhere for supermarket shopping.
M&S has said it plans to recruit locally for the new branch, while the council described the project as an “employment-generating retail use”.
Residents Welcome Return Of M&S To South Ruislip
South Ruislip has been without an M&S store since the closure of its High Street branch in 2018. The new location is expected to expand the area’s retail choices and attract shoppers looking for a broader selection of products.
The approved plans include seven-day opening, 332 parking spaces, six new trolley bays and 34 secure cycle parking spaces.
The opening date for the new Marks & Spencer store has not yet been announced.
