The recalls, issued over the past week, affect items stocked by Aldi, Tesco and Morrisons, as well as a branded snack product. Shoppers have been advised not to consume certain batches and to return them for a refund, with or without a receipt.

According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), the action has been taken because some products pose a potential health risk, particularly to people with specific allergies. The affected items range from savoury snacks and ready meals to desserts and bakery goods. Food recalls of this nature are not uncommon, yet they highlight the ongoing responsibility placed on retailers and manufacturers to ensure accurate labelling and product safety across supply chains.

Undeclared Allergens Prompt Allergy Warnings

One of the recalls concerns Malabar Choice Spicy Kerala Mixture, produced by Indo Asian Foods. The 275g snack, batch code ARC 109 with a best-before date of December 2026, has been withdrawn because it contains milk which is not declared on the label.

The FSA states that the presence of milk makes the product “a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents”. According to the agency, customers with a milk allergy or intolerance should not eat the product and should instead return it to the store for a full refund.

A separate allergen-related recall involves Morrisons Strawberry Trifle, sold in packs of three (3 x 135g). The supermarket confirmed that the product contains egg which is not emphasised in bold on the label, creating a risk for those with egg allergies. The recall applies to all best-before and use-by dates.

Morrisons said customers do not need a receipt to obtain a refund and apologised for the inconvenience, reaffirming its commitment to product quality and safety.

Meanwhile, Aldi has recalled multiple products from its stores in Scotland because they “do not meet the required standard”. The affected range includes various pakora items under the Inspired Cuisine and Bilash brands, as well as ready meals such as Chicken Tikka Masala with Pilau Rice and Chicken Korma with Pilau Rice. Aldi has advised customers to return the products to their nearest store for a full refund.

Plastic Contamination and Broader Safety Concerns

In addition to allergen issues, Tesco has recalled its six-pack Pitch Chocolate Brioche due to the potential presence of hard white plastic. The recall applies to packs with a use-by date of 4 March 2026.

Tesco has urged customers not to eat the product. According to the supermarket, shoppers can either return the brioche to a store for a full refund or contact the manufacturer, Brioch Pasquier, providing a photograph of the product and its best-before date.

The FSA explains that recalls are issued when there is a risk to consumers and that clear instructions are provided to minimise harm. In these cases, the risks range from allergic reactions to possible injury from foreign objects. Customers are being encouraged to check batch codes and date markings carefully. While no specific incidents of illness or injury have been detailed in the notices, the guidance is unequivocal: affected items should not be consumed.
