In an exciting move aimed at reinvigorating its in-store cafés, Tesco has introduced a new limited-edition menu, packed with trendy and vibrant dishes that aim to delight customers and brighten up the winter months. The menu, available until March 23, has already captured the attention of shoppers who are calling the new offerings “unreal.”
With increasing competition in the supermarket café sector, Tesco is making strides to compete with independent cafés by offering affordable yet fashionable menu items. According to Tesco, the new menu features a range of contemporary dishes and beverages designed to bring a touch of culinary flair to customers’ shopping trips. From Turkish-style eggs to rhubarb crumble shakes, the new offerings include both hearty breakfast options and lighter snacks to suit all tastes.
Revitalising the Café Experience with Trendy Dishes and Drinks
Tesco’s new menu pushes the boundaries of what shoppers have come to expect from supermarket cafés. According to the retail chain, some of the standout items include Turkish-style eggs, smoked salmon bagels, and the novel fried chicken crumpets.
The Turkish-style eggs, for example, are served on toasted sourdough and feature a flavourful combination of lemon yoghurt, harissa oil, fried eggs, coriander, and crispy onions. This dish, priced at £6.95, provides a fresh, contemporary take on a classic breakfast. Other popular new additions include matcha lattes and a rhubarb crumble shake, both of which offer unique and refreshing alternatives to more traditional café drinks.
In addition to these trendy items, Tesco is offering a range of crowd-pleasing favourites, including smashed avocado on sourdough toast and egg and chilli jam brioche rolls. This diverse menu is positioned at accessible price points, with dishes ranging from £3.95 for a breakfast bap to £9.50 for hand-battered fish and chips. Tesco’s spokesperson, in an interview with Metro, stated that the menu has been carefully crafted to offer customers a “vibrant” dining experience, which can brighten up the often grey and dreary winter days.
Improving the Café Environment with Enhanced Technology and Design
As well as an exciting new menu, Tesco has also made significant updates to the physical spaces where these meals are served. To improve the overall café experience, the supermarket has introduced touch-screen self-service ordering at select locations. According to Tesco, this move is aimed at cutting down on queues, enabling customers to order their meals with ease and speed. Additionally, the cafés themselves have undergone a refresh, with a new colour scheme and softer seating designed to enhance comfort for those looking to relax after their supermarket shop.
These changes are part of Tesco’s broader strategy to remain competitive within the growing supermarket café market. With many independent cafés offering high-end breakfast options and artisanal beverages, Tesco’s new menu and improved café experience aim to offer similar high-quality food but at a more affordable price.
