The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice, impacting large portions of the East coast of England and Scotland. Stretching approximately 300 miles (482.8 km), the warning covers areas from Halesworth in Norfolk to Dunbar, Scotland, with icy conditions and snow flurries expected from 6 PM this evening until midday Wednesday.

A total of 21 council areas are affected across multiple regions, including:
- East Midlands: Lincolnshire
- East of England: Norfolk, Suffolk
- North East England: Darlington, Durham, Gateshead, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Newcastle upon Tyne, North Tyneside, Northumberland, Redcar and Cleveland, South Tyneside, Stockton-on-Tees, Sunderland
- SW Scotland, Lothian Borders: Scottish Borders
- Yorkshire & Humber: East Riding of Yorkshire, Kingston upon Hull, North East Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire, North Yorkshire
The warning forecasts 2-3 cm of snow in most areas, with 10 cm or more possible on higher ground. Accompanying icy conditions could cause hazardous travel, particularly on untreated surfaces. Lightning may also strike alongside snow showers, increasing risks in affected areas.

Additional Yellow Warnings Across the UK
This alert is one of four yellow warnings currently active across the UK:
Northern Ireland
- Starting 6 PM Tuesday and running until 10 AM Wednesday, wintry showers are expected across all regions. Snow accumulations of 1-2 cm are likely at lower levels, with up to 5 cm on higher ground. Ice will pose a significant risk on untreated surfaces.
Northern Scotland
- Regions including Central Tayside & Fife, Grampian, Highlands & Eilean Siar, Orkney, and Shetland are under warning until 10 AM Wednesday. Snow showers and icy patches will be the primary hazards.
Mid-Wales and West Midlands
- Covering 11 areas in mid-Wales, plus Herefordshire and Shropshire, this warning is in effect until 3 PM Tuesday. Snow accumulations of 2-5 cm are forecast for higher ground, with icy conditions persisting into the evening.
Met Office Guidance
The Met Office advises caution for those travelling or working outdoors in affected areas. Untreated roads, pavements, and cycle paths are likely to become slippery, increasing the risk of accidents.

Im from Yorkshire and most of Yorkshire is covered in snow not much like. But the weather forecast says that there is more to come maybe there is. But it’s more of the cold and frost that is the worst and the bitting winds that it you the most when your out.
