In response to the aftermath of the severe storm on May 28, 2025, Texas authorities have announced an extension for emergency food stamps to aid those who lost food due to the disaster.
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is now offering affected residents a chance to apply for crucial food assistance until June 30, 2025. This initiative, aimed at those already enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), comes as part of a broader recovery effort to support residents in Travis County.
The extension is part of a state and federal collaboration, with HHSC working alongside the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide essential services and benefits to those impacted by flooding and power outages. SNAP recipients who experienced food loss are encouraged to take advantage of this aid to help them rebuild after the storm.
Who Is Eligible for Texas Emergency Food Stamps?
According to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, only current SNAP recipients residing in Travis County who suffered food loss due to the storm are eligible for this emergency assistance. The approval of the extension allows those individuals to apply for food stamps to replace their lost groceries and purchase basic necessities.
