On October 17, 2025, Jody’s Inc. formally announced a recall involving one of its popcorn products sold under the Cabot Creamery brand. The decision follows an internal notification process and concerns raised about a specific allergen risk. Distributed across multiple U.S. states and retail outlets, the product in question may require action by certain consumers.

Regulatory authorities have been informed, and further information about the affected item, including identifying codes and distribution details, has been made available. At this stage, no illnesses linked to the product have been reported, and the company is cooperating with food safety officials.

Product Details and Nationwide Distribution Scope

The recalled product is sold in 6 oz (170 g) foil-printed bags under the Cabot Creamery brand. Each package is marked with lot number 2519907B1, a “Best If Enjoyed By” date of July 15, 2026, and a UPC code 8 50016 95530 6. A second UPC, 8 50016 94430 6, was also cited in some materials, though it appears to be incorrect. This inconsistency could further complicate consumer identification of the product.

Distributed initially on July 23, 2025, the popcorn was shipped from an Illinois-based warehouse to multiple distribution centers across the United States. Notably, the company listed duplicate destinations, including Florida three times and Georgia twice. The complete list of affected states includes California, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, North Carolina, Oregon, and Texas.

These products were eventually sent to retail facilities nationwide, making the scope of the recall widespread. Consumers are urged to verify the details on their packaging and stop consumption immediately if they match the identifiers provided.

Origin of the Recall and Regulatory Oversight

Jody’s Inc. initiated the recall after being contacted by The Farmer Companies, Inc. on October 15, 2025. The alert followed two separate customer complaints about the presence of peanuts in bags of the caramel cheddar popcorn, despite the allergen not being listed on the product’s label.

The presence of undeclared peanuts poses significant risks, especially for individuals with severe peanut allergies, where exposure can lead to life-threatening anaphylactic reactions. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), this recall falls under the “Allergens” category of regulatory classification due to the nature of the risk involved.

The FDA published the recall information on its website, fda.gov, on October 17, 2025, the same day it was publicly announced by the company.

Jody’s Inc. has confirmed that this recall is being conducted with full knowledge and oversight of the FDA. No explanation has yet been offered regarding the source of the cross-contamination—whether it occurred during manufacturing, ingredient sourcing, or packaging.

Consumers who have purchased this product should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund, or they may choose to dispose of the product safely. For direct assistance, customers can contact Jody M. Wagner at 757-422-8646 x103, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:30 PM ET.
