According to the Department for Work and Pensions, there are more than 3.5 million adults all over Great Britain currently claiming Personal Independence Payment (PIP), with around 173,000 residing in Scotland.
Understanding Payment Options for PIP and ADP Claims
It is crucial to know that Adult Disability Payment (ADP) has substituted all new PIP claims for those who live north of the border.
A valid PIP or ADP claim can range from £114.80 and £737.20 every 4-week pay period, however, many of those who consider submitting a new claim for disability benefits, or anticipating a decision on an award may not be aware that there are eight possible payment options.
There are two components for PIP and ADP: the daily living and mobility component. People could receive the lowest or the highest rate of one or both elements, or a mixed award involving the lower or higher rates of each component.
Daily living component
- Basic rate: £72.65
- Increased rate: £108.55
Mobility component
- Basic rate: £28.70
- Increased rate: £75.75
Payment combinations
The award letter from the DWP or Social Security Scotland will determine which component (s) you've been awarded and specify much your weekly and periodic payment amounts.
