The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed the new rates of Personal Independence Payments (PIP). A 1.7% increase in disability benefits such as PIP, Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Attendance Allowance and Carer’s Allowance has been confirmed by the DWP.
DWP Disability Benefit Increases
Disability benefit recipients will receive between £29.20 and £187.45 per week, or between £116.80 and £749.80 per four-week pay period, following an increase of 1.7%. Therefore, recipients of the highest benefits will receive an extra £9,747 in cash support over the tax year.
A claimant getting the highest allowance for the daily living and mobility components would receive the highest figure of £749.80. The weekly rates for DLA, PIP, Adult Incapacity Benefit, and Child Incapacity Benefit are shown.
Carer’s Allowance Rates Set to Increase
The standard allowances will rise from £72.65 to £73.90, the increased rate will jump from £108.55 to £110.40, and the lower care allowance for the daily living components of disability allowances will grow from £28.70 to £29.20. Standard mobility rates will increase from £28.70 to £29.20.
The enhanced mobility rates will increase from £75.75 to £77.05. The lower rates of Attendance Allowance will be £73.90 (previously £72.65), and the higher rates will be £110.40 (previously £108.55). Weekly rates of carer’s allowance will also rise from £81.90 to £83.30.
The pay rates for four weeks will rise from £327.60 to £332.20. According to DWP advice, the weekly pay level for Attendance Allowance in England and Wales will grow from £151 to £196, equivalent to 16 hours at the National Living Wage.
The Carer’s Allowance earnings threshold will be increased by £45 per week to £196. More than 60,000 carers will benefit by 2029/30, enabling those caring for dependents to earn more without losing government support. This is the biggest boost to the level of Carer’s Allowance pay in history.
In addition, Liz Sayce OBE is conducting an independent investigation into overpayments of Carer’s Allowance.
