Barclays and British Gas have extended their partnership to provide a significant discount on home energy efficiency checks. Customers of Barclays can now get an energy check from British Gas for a reduced price of £50, compared to the usual £99, as part of the partnership.
According to a recent survey by Barclays, a substantial number of homeowners (70%) expressed a desire to make their homes more energy efficient. However, 35% of them admitted to being reluctant to implement changes due to a lack of understanding of the most suitable options for their properties.
Through our partnership with Barclays, we are pleased to help more homeowners decide what solution works for them to help them lower their carbon emissions and save on their energy bills.
Eligible customers can take advantage of the Barclays and British Gas Home Health Check partnership offer by agreeing to T&Cs Terms and conditions on Barclays' website.
Barclays' Greener Homes Strategy
This latest announcement is part of Barclays' wider 'Greener Homes' strategy, first announced in 2023. It is based on a shared desire between Barclays and British Gas to support customers in improving their energy efficiency, reducing their energy consumption and saving money on their energy bills.
Barclays UK Head of Sustainable Finance, Nick Stace, reflected on the occasion: "Aside from the initial cost, one of the biggest barriers our customers face when trying to make their home more energy efficient is confusion over the different improvements they need to make to their property."
"Through our partnership with British Gas, we want to help overcome this barrier by providing customers with personalised recommendations for saving money and potentially reducing their energy consumption."
To encourage more energy efficient homes, Barclays is offering the Greener Home Reward Scheme. This initiative gives a cash prize of up to £2,000 to UK residential mortgage customers installing an energy-efficient home improvement system that meets the following requirements.
Eligible home improvements | Type of improvement | Reward amount |
Doors and windows |
| £500 |
Insulation (excludes spray foam insulation) |

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to making improvements on your home, which is why personalised guidance is key. Through our partnership with Barclays, we are pleased to help more homeowners decide what solution works for them to help them lower their carbon emissions and save on their energy bills.
