A popular non-alcoholic grapefruit mixer sold nationwide has been urgently recalled due to a risk of bottle explosions caused by unintended fermentation inside the packaging.
The recall affects Salted Grapefruit by StrangeLove, which was sold in major supermarkets and liquor stores, including Coles, Woolworths, Dan Murphy’s, BWS, First Choice, Liquorland, and Vintage Cellars.
Bottles Could Explode Under Pressure
The fermentation issue inside the affected bottles has led to an excess buildup of carbonation, which can create high pressure inside the glass containers. This increases the risk of bottles bursting or caps forcefully popping off, potentially causing serious injuries to consumers.
The recall statement warns:
“Food products containing excess carbonation may result in bottle breakage or popping caps.”

The recall applies to 180ml and 540ml bottles of Salted Grapefruit with the following best before dates:

- 540ml bottles: 05/01/2026, 09/02/2026, 19/03/2026, 04/05/2026, 29/05/2026
Consumers who own any of these bottles are urged NOT to open or drink them and should dispose of them safely.
