Australia’s first major new city in over a century is officially taking shape. Bradfield City Centre, a cornerstone of the ambitious Western Sydney Aerotropolis, has reached a major milestone today with the opening of its very first building—the Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF).
This marks the first step in what will become a sprawling 144-acre urban hub designed to support the Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport, set to open in 2026.
A City Built for the Future
Backed by over $1 billion in funding from the NSW Government, Bradfield City Centre isn’t just another urban expansion—it’s a purpose-built, high-tech city set to house 10,000 homes, create 20,000 jobs, and become a hub for innovation and sustainability.
Planned with a vision to rival the world’s most forward-thinking urban developments, it will include green open spaces, cutting-edge commercial precincts, and a NYC-style Central Park at its heart. The project is designed to fuel economic growth in Western Sydney, an area already experiencing rapid transformation.
With the Western Sydney International Airport acting as a catalyst, Bradfield City Centre will play a pivotal role in establishing the region as an economic powerhouse, attracting global business, advanced industries, and state-of-the-art infrastructure.
The First Step: AMRF Opens Its Doors
The first building to open in the city, the Advanced Manufacturing Readiness Facility (AMRF), is more than just bricks and mortar—it’s a launchpad for innovation.
Designed to support high-tech industries, the AMRF will provide training, expertise, and networking opportunities to businesses looking to establish themselves in the region.
By fostering collaboration and investment, the facility is expected to accelerate advanced manufacturing and technological development in Western Sydney. The NSW Government has made its intentions clear: Bradfield City Centre is set to become a global hub for industry, research, and enterprise.
According to NSW Premier Chris Minns, the government is backing the region with over $25 billion in infrastructure investment, ensuring that the roads, services, and essential facilities are in place to support rapid growth.
A City 40 Times the Size of Sydney CBD
Bradfield City Centre is only one piece of the puzzle. The Western Sydney Aerotropolis, a transformative development almost 40 times the size of Sydney’s CBD, is set to reshape the region entirely.
With state-of-the-art transport links, an airport-driven economy, and a focus on sustainable urban planning, the Aerotropolis is being positioned as one of Australia’s most significant economic zones for the future.
Minister for Planning and Public Spaces, Paul Scully, has described Bradfield City Centre as the blueprint for a “world-class city”—one that balances sustainability, economic growth, and innovation.
