The recall underscores the ongoing concern surrounding the safety of consumer goods sold online, particularly when they do not meet mandatory safety standards. As third-party sellers increasingly dominate e-commerce platforms like Amazon, product safety remains a crucial issue for both consumers and retailers. The recalled items, although sold through reputable platforms, highlight the necessity of vigilance in ensuring that such products adhere to U.S. safety guidelines.
The Recalls and the Risks
The CPSC’s recent recall alerts involve four distinct product categories: children’s toys, power strips, dressers, and adult bed rails. Each of these items has been linked to serious hazards, with particular concerns regarding the safety of children and elderly adults.
Among the withdrawn products are the Meaicezli Play Purse Sets, which were found to contain button cell and coin batteries that can be easily accessed by children. If swallowed, these batteries pose the risk of internal chemical burns and severe injury. Approximately 3,090 units of the toy, sold by Angeer-US between August and October 2025, are being recalled. No injuries have been reported to date, but the recall highlights the dangers of small batteries that children can ingest.
In another case, ANNQUAN power strips have been recalled after investigations revealed they lack essential overcurrent protection, which is crucial for preventing overheating and potential fires. Around 11,200 units of the EX-D112-05 and EX-D106-25 models, sold by Hefei Juyuan Sporting Development between December 2023 and October 2025, have been affected. While no fires or injuries have occurred, the risk of fire remains a significant concern. Consumers who purchased these power strips are urged to stop using them immediately.
The Impact on Vulnerable Groups
The remaining recalled products involve items that pose significant risks to vulnerable groups, particularly children and elderly adults. The KKL Fabric 9-Drawer Dressers have been found to lack the stability required by the STURDY Act, which mandates that dressers meet safety standards to prevent tipping. Approximately 4,740 units of these dressers, sold between September 2023 and November 2025, do not meet the necessary stability requirements unless properly anchored to a wall. While no injuries have been reported, tip-over accidents can be deadly, particularly for children.
Lastly, JOKOSIS adult portable bed rails have been recalled due to safety violations related to entrapment and asphyxiation risks. The lack of required warning labels further exacerbates the dangers posed by these products. About 12,000 units were sold from August to November 2025, and although no injuries have occurred, the potential for harm is significant. The recall calls attention to the ongoing need for clear safety guidelines in products intended for elderly users, who are often more vulnerable to such hazards.
Amazon has assured consumers that it is committed to addressing safety concerns. The company stated that its Product Safety Team proactively investigates reported safety complaints and works closely with vendors to address potential risks. When a product recall occurs, Amazon halts sales of the affected items and immediately informs both customers and sellers.
For consumers who have purchased any of the recalled items, the CPSC urges them to stop using the products immediately and follow the instructions provided for safe disposal or return. This includes submitting proof of disposal or evidence of the recalled product to receive a refund.
