Aldi has recently issued a recall of two food products sold in several states across the United States, following concerns about undeclared allergens. These recalls impact consumers in 16 states and are being closely monitored by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The recall is particularly significant for individuals with milk and soy allergies, as both allergens were found in products where they were not listed on the labels. As consumer safety remains a top priority for the supermarket chain, the company has taken swift action to resolve the issue and ensure that affected products are removed from shelves.

Casa Mamita Churro Bites Recall

On June 4, 2025, Aldi and the FDA announced the recall of Casa Mamita Churro Bites Filled with Chocolate Hazelnut Cream due to the potential presence of an undeclared milk allergen.

The affected product was sold in 7.05-ounce cardboard boxes, featuring the UPC Code 4061459561807, with a “Best If Used By” date of July 14, 2026.

According to Aldi, the product was distributed in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

No allergic reactions or illnesses have been reported as of the recall announcement. However, Aldi has advised customers with milk allergies to avoid consuming the product and to return it to the store for a full refund.

Atlantic Salmon Portions with Seafood Stuffing Recall

In a separate recall, Atlantic Salmon Portions with Seafood Stuffing were pulled from Aldi stores after undeclared soy was found in the product.

The recall was announced on May 27, 2025, after the product, packaged in 16oz sizes with the UPC Code 4061459716313 and a use/freeze-by date of June 2, 2025, was linked to potential soy contamination. This product was sold in Aldi locations across California, Nevada, and Arizona.

As of the recall date, no illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported. Aldi has yet to comment further on the specific nature of the contamination but is advising customers with soy allergies to return the product for a full refund.

Importance of Food Safety and Consumer Protection

Both recalls underscore the ongoing need for strict food safety protocols in retail operations. According to the FDA, food recalls are most often initiated when a product is found to contain undeclared allergens, which can cause severe allergic reactions in some individuals. Such recalls serve as vital safeguards for public health, particularly for those with life-threatening allergies.

Aldi, which has made consumer safety a priority, is working to address the issue and prevent further incidents, emphasising its commitment to product quality and safety. Affected customers are encouraged to act swiftly to return recalled items for a refund, ensuring their health and well-being are not compromised.
