Six Challenge My Med start-up winners innovate to protect the Mediterranean and its coastline

FRANCE. Around 100 of them responded to the My Med Challenge, launched nationally in February 2020 by TOP 20 Club *. Twenty-three were able to receive personalized support from as many mentor companies and six were awarded prizes on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 in Cassis, near Marseille.

The winning start-ups responded to the six challenges (see below) of this competition, which aimed to "imagine the Mediterranean coastline of tomorrow and find concrete answers to the major economic, environmental and societal challenges it faces".

Five start-ups were awarded a €16,400 check financed by the partner companies of each challenge and one was rewarded with a €20,000 "Coup de coeur" prize from the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. At the same time, all of them will benefit from territories of experimentation or accompaniment by the partner companies.

The winners

Challenge 1 - How to limit the impacts of economic activities on the sea and the coastline? AquaTech Innovation (solutions adapted to the aquatic environment to clean up and invest in these territories in order to develop them in a sustainable way).
Mentors : Airbus Helicopters, Constructa, Corsica Linea

Challenge 2 - How to develop an economy that relies on resources while preserving them? BlueNav  (electric engines for boats in soft hybridization).
Mentors: Caisse d'Epargne CEPAC, Compagnie Fruitière, Groupe SNEF

Challenge 3 - How to protect coastal biodiversity?  Sea Blocks (educational workshops on the fabrication of self-designed reefs).
Mentors: Eaux de Marseille, Kaporal, Foselev Process Solutions

Challenge 4 - How to make coastal protection everyone's business? : SunnyCare (transforms the way solar products are consumed towards greater environmental and health responsibility by offering free access to bulk, eco-designed protection).
Mentors : Marseille Provence Airport, Onet, La Provence

Challenge 5 - How to limit and make plastic waste a resource for the territories? : D'Rain (waste and data collection technology)
Mentors: Crédit Agricole, Arcelor Mittal, Synchrone

Challenge "Cop d'avance", Favourite award : One Concept (multifunction pontoon generating clean and economical energy for recharging electric and hydrogen-powered pleasure boats)
Mentor : Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur Region
