FRANCE / ISRAEL. On Wednesday 3 November 2021, Mérieux NutriSciences announced the acquisition of the Israeli company Sher Consulting and Training.
A service company with 8,000 employees, Mérieux NutriSciences is 69% owned by Institut Mérieux (€3.7 billion in sales and 21,000 employees) and offers "auditing and consulting services to ensure the safety and quality of food, the environment and consumer goods that impact consumer health". Based in Lyon and Chicago, it is present in twenty-six countries with around one hundred analysis laboratories.
Chaired by Robert Segal, Sher Consulting and Training (45 consultants) also works on food quality, safety, compliance and sustainability as well as environmental consulting to support, mainly, the agri-food industry in Israel. Established in 2003, the company has "a full range of solutions to serve a wide range of food manufacturers, retailers, importers and exporters. These solutions include product labelling, regulatory compliance, food quality and safety consulting, risk management, inspections and audits, training, environmental and safety compliance audits, life cycle assessment, etc.," a joint statement said.
"This acquisition is fully in line with our strategic roadmap and illustrates our commitment to becoming a complete solutions provider to support our customers along the food chain," commented Jennifer Marquet, vice president Europe of the French-American company. Mérieux NutriScience already has analytical laboratories in Acre, Kiryat Shmona and in the Bar Lev Industrial Park. The head office of Sher Consulting and Training is located in Tsour Yigaël (Tzur Yigal) in the centre of the country, forty kilometres north-east of Tel Aviv.
