MOROCCO / FRANCE. The French group Gefco (€4.7 bn turnover in 2019 and 15,000 employees) is inaugurating a new 10,000 m² warehouse in Morocco in the Tanger Med logistics free zone ("Medhub"). Operational since January 2021, it offers eleven loading and unloading docks. "Morocco has a large workforce, world-class infrastructure such as the Tanger Med port and great growth opportunities linked to its strategic geographical location. We continue to invest in Morocco to provide customers in the region with the most agile, intelligent and innovative solutions for their businesses," said Sébastien Roger, managing director of Gefco Morocco.

The logistics company, one of the leading automotive logistics providers in Europe, is establishing itself in Africa's leading automotive hub (one million new vehicles exported per year) to support its expansion in Morocco while consolidating its position in this market where it has been present for twenty years. According to the logistics specialist, 135 companies and automotive suppliers will benefit from the new facilities, including PSA, Continental, Faurecia, 3M, Novares and Valeo.

Six daily departures to Kenitra

"The new warehouse will enable Gefco to offer a full range of solutions, including Strait of Gibraltar crossings and customs services. This site will also extend the storage and transport solutions that the group already offers to a large number of its customers, particularly in the industrial sector," said a press release from the group.

Gefco offers six daily departures from the warehouse to supply the Kenitra plant - where the PSA factory is located - and to Morocco's main economic zones. Daily collections and removals take place in Kenitra, Casablanca, Tangier, Fez and Meknes. Weekly departures are offered to supply the whole of Europe and regular departures cover the rest of the world.

In January 2018, Gefco acquired the Spanish company GLT, a specialist in transport between Europe and Morocco.
