A Tale of Two Agreements: EU Migration Cooperation with Morocco and Tunisia

Publié en 2019. Rédigé par Abderrahim Tasnim

The European Union seeks to secure closer cooperation with Morocco and Tunisia on migration, particularly on border management, readmission of their own nationals who are irregularly present in the EU, and reception of third country nationals who transited to Europe through their territories.

These transformations cannot take place without effects on their foreign policy behaviour and international relations (IR). In contrast to most of the literature and policy analyses dealing with Euro-Mediterranean relations from an EU perspective, this paper aims to switch sides and analyse relations from a southern angle.
